 By the way... I just retried to solve this problem using CPLEX instead of
 Coin.. Result :

 sage: time graphs.PetersenGraph().minor(graphs.CompleteGraph(5))
 Wall time: 0.22 s
 {0: [3, 8], 1: [5, 7], 2: [1, 2], 3: [0, 4], 4: [6, 9]}
 }}}

 {{{
 sage: time
 graphs.PetersenGraph().minor(graphs.CompleteBipartiteGraph(3,3))
 Wall time: 0.18 s
 {0: [4, 9], 1: [5], 2: [1, 2], 3: [3, 8], 4: [0], 5: [7]}
 }}}

 So it seems it is not that bad after all :-)
