Ok, doctests run clean now. I've tested the code out and read it over,
and it works for me. I'm a little cautious giving this a positive review
because I know very little about this area of math. However, given that
it's replacing something that barely worked and used memory like toilet
paper, I'm willing to throw caution to the wind if mhampton or jason are
willing to sign off on the idea.
