Dave,
most of your comments are accurate. Upstream developers too have put a lot
of effort (in addition to Sage developers). This collaboration has
benefited to upstream, since several issues reported by the Sage
developers were solved upstream. Note that the concept of primary,
secondary or tertiary platform on the MPC development page is inherited
from GCC (this classification is not done by the MPC developers). Also
Jason volunteers to maintain the package (for at least 2 years).
