 Actually, this doesn't make sense to me:

 bck = int(libsingular_options)
 #letter place needs these options
 libsingular_options['redTail'] = True
 libsingular_options['redSB'] = True
 libsingular_options(bck)
 }}}

 First bck is stored and then options are changed. So far fine. However,
 then bck is loaded and thus overwrites the options just set.
