I can only tell I've successfully built Sage 4.5.alpha0, alpha1 and alpha4
with a similar link in my home directory to a different local filesystem,
running {{{make}}} in the directory which is a symbolic link (Ubuntu
9.04).
I wonder if what Mitesh and William observed is really reproducible, or
just a strange coincidence.
