This problem with cvxopt on Solaris has become critical now, as there are
no longer any compilers except gcc 4.5.0 on any of the Solaris machines.
I've created a very small patch to fix the current version of cvxopt so it
builds on Solaris. The #9657. I'd like to get that merged asap, as it is
really a pain now we can't build on skynet,
