 Ok, I got a Mac OS X machine (10.6.4, 64 bit) and TOPCOM compiles and runs
 fine, including the regular/nonregular checks. In particular, I don't get
 the "bus error". I also don't get the segfault with the nonregularity
 check any more. Marshall, can you try again?

 All I did was refresh the automake files, maybe there was a bug in the
 older autotools that got fixed? I did upgrade from Fedora 12 -> Fedora 13
 in the meantime.

 In any case, doctests pass on OS X and Fedora 13 x86_64
