I fixed the issues you mentioned. I also changed the option name to
{{{ticks_integer}}} to be more consistent with the new ticks options.
Yes, the defaults may change slightly with the steps option. I don't know
why I didn't put in those steps defaults before; they look better, and
this will provide consistency to have the same steps options for different
calls. Possibly it should have gone on another ticket, but I already had
to consolidate things for the integer option.
