 This fix has been included in python-2.6.5 onwards. We are using 2.6.5
 which includes this fix and everything builds (haven't tried 2.7 yet). The
 only problem we have is with [http://github.com/cschwan/sage-on-
 gentoo/issues#issue/1] so I think it is unfair to single out this issue as
 the source of problems.
