 Or, perhaps, we could optionally re-`raise` in `__call__` (see the
 previous comment) and wrap `L = [t[1] for t in f(range(5))]` in a `try-
 except` block.  We'd just `pass` if the exception is of the form in the
 description.  This might also help with the very similar problem at #9501,
 #9616, and #9631.
