 On another machine, doing that wasn't enough to get out of this issue...
 there was still a reference to the wrong thing in libR.dylib, which is a
 binary file, and which I have no idea how to change.  But that's not this
 ticket.  As far as I have time to test this, it did what it said, so
 positive review from me.  I don't have time to do the complete build from
 scratch, but it definitely changed what it claimed to in the right way
 from a non-scratch situation - and it WAS changed.

 have `SAGE_ROOT` already defined, which takes care of spkgs installed
 later.
 This seems reasonable, and hopefully with time won't be much of an issue.
 Sorry I can't give final positive review.
