s/MPLCONFIGIDIR/MPLCONFIGDIR/ (minor; in the comment)
In principle, you can now omit the outer test ({{{if [ -f ... ]; then}}})
and simply redirect stderr to {{{/dev/null}}} inside the backquotes.
According to Dave, we no longer use variables for simple (POSIX) commands
like {{{mkdir}}} and {{{cp}}} etc., but I don't mind.
