Well, the current patch(es) will only work if a ''development'' version of
readline is already installed.
Is it installed by default on these systems? (To me that's rather
unlikely.)
If not, on Arch the build will fail ''later'' because of that (with a
compilation or perhaps {{{configure}}} error), while on OpenSuSE, we then
build Sage's one which IMHO causes the same problem we had previously:
bash will crash if it requires a newer 6.0 than we ship.
