Patch >= 2.6 seems to be broken on OS X 10.4 (and supposedly also
Solaris). I have tested upstream patch 2.5.9 and that works fine.
So I propose to use [http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/patch/patch-2.5.9.tar.gz]
