 You're probably right.  I was just following up on your observation about
 long integers with an experiment.

 How about
 {{{
 #!python
 sage: '"%s"' % os.path.realpath(tmpdir) == r.eval('dput(%s)' %
 r.getwd().name())
 True
 }}}
 ?  Can we simplify this?
