 Thanks, Sébastien!  Very interesting and useful.  If I get a similar
 result from Samuel, I'll know which way to go with this.

 If you want to try the Sage (long) one-line command above and see how
 prevalent this is, that would also be very helpful.

 I can't get any failures on my Linux install.
