Comment(by mister.wardrop):
Okay. I cannot get ATLAS to build as part of sage 4.7 compilation on
either the iMac (second to latest generation) or MacBook 5,1 (2008) with
processors of Intel Core i7 Quad-Core (with hyperthreading) and Intel Core
2 Duo P8600 respectively. Interestingly, on the AMD processor, it compiled
quickly, and only later had a fault compiling singular. On the Intel
machines, I was using a 2.6.38 Linux kernel; but the same result was found
while running on a 3.0 kernel.
I cannot really afford to dedicate too much more time to attempting to get
sage working; without sure chance of success.
I think this ATLAS compilation bug has something to do with
http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/9385 .
If need be, I am happy to provide ssh access to one of my machines so that
you can poke through what's going on.
