I tried this (new python spkg plus all of the patches, then built from
scratch) and I'm seeing a bunch of doctest failures. Are some of these
due to #11339?

I think I did everything right. I put together a Sage distribution with
the python spkg and the patches, based on 4.7.2.alpha1:
