My first guess about a way to solve this problem was to add the two lines
{{{
(require :cmp)
(setf c::*compile-in-constants* t)
}}}
to the top of the file {{{maxima-5.23.2.p0/src/src/maxima.system}}}. This
was inspired by reading the error message and this post: http://www.mail-
