If you can finish it, I'd be happy to merge it. But to be realistic, I
don't think this ticket is close to being finished. There is a huge
amount of patches which needs to be reviewed, there is still #11986, there
is the rebasing to #11447, maybe testing will reveal breakage on some
systems...
