The code looks fine to me. I tested it on a 10.6.8 mac under sage-4.8.a3
and on a Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) machine under sage-4.8.a1.
There was a discussion of cached methods in sage-devel, but I'm not sure
how that relates to this ticket, so I'm giving this a positive review.
Maybe changes, if any, from that thread can go in a separate ticket.
