I don't think this is true. I found only one issue with `-pipe` (#12562).
Apart from that, Sage builds fine with the Sun assembler.
Anyway, I fixed the GCC spkg to use the `AS` and `LD` environment
variables as arguments for --with-as and --with-ld.
