To me this all smells more like a problem with the GCC setup (i.e., the
Sage GCC spkg), as I don't have any problems compiling Sage 5.0beta{8,9}
(with some spkgs replaced, see `sage-release`) with GCC 4.6.3 and `-flto`
(as well as Graphite loop optimization) enabled.
