 the cephes functions with /lib/libm.so.  This is something that is not
 meant to work for dynamic libraries.
 Are you sure about this?  Couldn't you link Cephes's `libm` against the
 system `-lm` (maybe you would have to rename the latter).

 I'm willing to experiment with this if somebody could give me access to a
 FreeBSD box.
