I just tested whether the changes I mentioned have a noticeable effect on
the computation time for an example that does nothing but creating the
parent classes for 2000 different categories (I made it so that the parent
classes are distinct). I am afraid, it was not noticeable. So, I guess I
can drop my suggestion.
