 I've got a systems I can set up without OpenSSL to test.  However, I won't
 be able to do it until I finish with exams and grading (roughly May 12).
  If we still need this part reviewed at that time, someone should remind
 me and I will do it.

 ticket at present. I checked jmol on the command line and on the notebook
 and checked some other stuff (plot, interacts, math, etc), and they all
 work. I would give it positive review except that I haven't faced any
 openssl problems (in any of the earlier iterations of the patches).
