Comment:

 Installing the debug version of libc6 (libc6-dbg) on my Ubuntu
 installation solves both the startup problem.
 Nonetheless, it might be useful to actually print something when valgrind
 fails for this reason.
 Currently running "sage -valgrind" exits without complaining although
 tunning directly valgrind from the local/bin folder provides some hints.
