 Jeroen: the SPKG.txt file here is extremely out of date and there is a lot
 more wrong with it than the fact that the OpenSSL dependency is not
 mentioned. I have more or less completely rewritten the SPKG.txt at
 [http://github.com/sagemath/sagenb/pull/63 github #63], which I hope will
 go into #13121 (in fact the new SPKG.txt is in the preliminary 0.9.1 SPKG
 I have put up on that ticket). More importantly, the OpenSSL dependency is
 already explained in the installation docs (by [attachment:trac_11080
 -openssl-in-installation-docs.patch]). Is it really necessary to edit this
 old version of SPKG.txt when OpenSSL is already stated as a dependency of
 Sage as a whole?

 John makes a good point, though - it should be made clear that installing
 OpenSSL is unnecessary if OpenSSL is already on your system. The current
 patch to the installation docs could be updated to say that more
 explicitly.
