Some more testing reveals that a) malloc on SPARC is in fact 8-byte
aligned (as specified by the C99 standard), and b) the '''output of
`PyString_FromStringAndSize` is never 8-byte aligned,''' not on SPARC
32-bit, OI 32-bit, Linux 64-bit:
