You may try to use the exact same versions of `automake` and `autoconf`...

Well, I'm personally ok with just "autoreconfing" `src/`, but such
disturbes the move to git.

If the patch isn't that large, that's perhaps the best solution until
upstream includes a fix. If they quickly include it into some devel
version, we could try to upgrade to that.
