Comment:

 Nicolas argued that there is no real reason for Sym to have a
 {{{__cmp__}}}
 method and there is no reason for the test to be deterministic. We don't
 care if two rings or ring elements are > or < than each other, just
 whether they are distinct.
 Therefore the test that failed can be rewritten and the {{{__cmp___}}}
 method
 is not needed.
