DJ Indonesia Min Mulls Extended Newmont Mine Divestment Deadline JAKARTA (Dow Jones)--The Indonesian government would consider a request from Newmont Mining Corp. to extend the Feb. 22 deadline for its divestment of a 10% stake in a gold mining concern in Sumbawa, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said Wednesday.
Purnomo said, however, that he hasn't received a letter from Newmont proposing such an extension. "I will take a look at Newmont's letter and see its proposals," Purnomo told reporters. The Indonesian government sent Newmont a letter Monday telling the company it has until Feb. 22 to sign an agreement to divest the stake or face termination of its contract.
