Indonesia's BII shares drop 26.6 pct on Maybank news JAKARTA, Sept 26 (Reuters) - PT Bank Internasional Indonesia Tbk shares fell 26.6 percent to 345 rupiah when trading resumed, after Malaysia's central bank told Maybank on Friday to renegotiate its acquisition price for the Indonesian lender.
Malaysia's state-controlled Maybank agreed in March to pay $1.5 billion, or 510 rupiah per share, for a 55.5 percent stake in Bank Internasional Indonesia (BII), Indonesia's sixth-biggest bank, and to make a tender offer for the remaining shares, giving a total price tag of $2.7 billion. Several analysts criticised the deal at the time, saying the Malaysian bank had overpaid for BII. Maybank said on Friday the Malaysian central bank had told it to cut the price of its proposed $2.7-billion acquisition of BII. Maybank said it would hold talks with the sellers -- Fullerton Financial Holdings, which is part of Singapore's Temasek Holdings, and South Korea's Kookmin Bank <060000.KS>. Indonesia Stock Exchange, which imposed a trading halt on Bank Internasional Indonesia (BII) shares in Friday's morning session, lifted the halt for the afternoon session with effect from 0700 GMT. ------------------------------------ Kunjungi situs http://www.info-saham.com untuk informasi seputar saham.
