China tahu bahwa inflasi yg terjadi lebih dikarenakan kenaikan biaya2 dan bukan disebabkan kenaikan permintaan/demand (demand push inflation). Itu sebabnya saya menyarankan ke kawan2 di BI, sebaiknya kebijakan yg diambil adalah menaikkan GWM dari 8% menjadi katakanlah 10-12%. BI rate tetap di 6,5%. Kita nyontoh saja dengan China, bagaimana mereka berupaya dalam memerangi inflasi di negaranya. Memang, kebijakan ini akan terasa memberatkan perbankan mengingat profit mereka bisa berkurang. Tapi saya pikir sudah saatnya perbankan kali ini mengalah dulu demi sektor riil. Toh selama ini perbankan sudah banyak dibantu oleh BI, khususnya ketika krisis dulu. Sekarang, mengalah sedikitlah keuntungannya berkurang. The increase, which takes effect Jan. 20, is the latest move by China to curb inflation, after the consumer price index rose 5.1% in November from a year earlier, the fastest increase in over two years. It comes after the PBOC raised benchmark lending and deposit rates Dec. 25, the second such hike last year. The last PBOC reserve requirement ratio hike took effect Dec. 20. China's official reserve requirement ratio for most banks will be 19% after the latest hike takes effect, based on the PBOC's announcements. However, state media have reported the central bank may have verbally ordered some banks to set aside more reserves after they had increased lending.
