Berita hari kamis kemarin, sori baru sempet di forward :p: PT Garuda Indonesia, the nation’s biggest airline, will announce an order for 25 single-aisle aircraft at this month’s Paris Air Show as it expands its low- cost Citilink unit.
The airline has shortlisted Boeing Co. (BA) and Airbus SAS for the order, which will also include the option to buy 25 additional planes, Chief Executive Officer Emirsyah Satar said today by phone from Jakarta. Deliveries will start from early 2014, he said. The Paris show starts on June 20. Citilink, the operator of eight Boeing 737s, plans to add four leased Airbus A320s this year to support traffic growth that’s three times as fast as last year, Garuda Chief Financial Officer Elisa Lumbantoruan said. PT Lion Mentari Airlines, AirAisa Bhd.’s local unit, and PT Batavia Air are also expanding in Indonesia as economic growth spurs travel demand. Garuda also plans to make a decision on a regional-jet order in the second half, Satar said. The airline is considering Bombardier Inc. and Embraer SA (ERJ) planes, he said. The carrier said in March that it planned to order 18 planes with fewer than 100 seats.
