The two projects I wrote about work for me now and I didn't have to clear my cache. "Nature of Science" works because the offering was changed to one that works and Meiosis works because the telscenter.org Confluence server came back online.
That doesn't change the need for link checking though. 99% of users of Pas are not on the SAIL-Dev list. And even if they were, solving end-user problems is good, but preventing them is better.
