I think "Jem" should be re-made all anime-like, since it already had

Random weird Q, Haruka-sama once references a science-fiction novel she
enjoyed as a kid, and I'm just curious whether anyone knows if it exists?
Googling doesn't help, but 1) I'm not very good at searching, and 2) if
there's no English version, or if the title of it in English is different,
my English Google search would be useless, anyway :-P .
I wouldn't have pegged her for a science-fiction geek. . . hard to
imagine her gluing on Vulcan ears and hanging out at cons. . . although
there could be some funny fic in that idea ^_^ . *keeps idea in pocket for
later* Maybe she would just be a more casual fan, the kind who likes the
stuff, but wouldn't go creepily far in her fandom.
I wonder if Haruka-sama watched "Macross" as a kid? Ogata-sama did a
(very good) version of "Runner" once. . . in somewhat a Haruka-ish voice ^_^
