AUM SAI RAM

On 17.02.2009, I reached Hindustan Airport with a friend, Kamla at three in the
morning. We booked a pre-paid cab which we shared with two Mauritian couples
and set out on our journey to the Abode of Supreme Peace. Except for a minor
incident where the cab driver lost his way, the trip monitored by the invisible
hands of the Lord, was smooth sailing.

At the break of dawn, we set our feet on the holy land of Prasanti. My eyes
were thirsty for the sweet Lord Sai Chandra. I was craving to bask in his
divine darshan. We hurried to the accommodation office for a room in the ashram.

Unfortunately, we were told that there was no room available. We were offered
accommodation in a shed where 30 people were housed.

‘Only couples are given rooms’, the accommodation officer said harshly,’ all
unaccompanied ladies will go to the shed!’

I was flabbergasted:

‘Am I to be blamed if my husband is not with me, O Lord?’

The two Mauritian couples were allotted a room each immediately and we had to
decide then and there whether we would go to the shed or to a hotel outside the
ashram. The decision was entirely ours. The officer had said his last word.

Upset and worn out, I told Kamla:

‘Let’s go to a hotel!’

I wondered what the Lord wanted to teach me by this experience. I had said
before, in my last book that the days of the shed were over. I had climbed the
ladder to VIP line. I was aware that Baba did not approve that women travel or
come to Prasanti alone. This was the reason I had asked Kamla to accompany me.
I would never do anything to disobey or to displease him.

As we were leaving N8, the building which housed the accommodation office, two
women came up to me and asked whether we would like to share a room. The
accommodation officer had told them that he could give a room to a group of
four women. Baba was putting me to the test again. I knew it. We agreed to
share a room without further ado. We introduced ourselves. They were Angela
and Maria from Venezuela and we were Kamla and Anita from Mauritius. Complete
strangers, Baba had brought us together, under his loving care, to blossom like
the flowers of the same creeper in the garden of Paradise. Like the
affectionate mother, he had found a solution to our accommodation problem. He
would not let us go alone to a hotel. He was all protective. Hundreds of
devotees had arrived from the four corners of the world, yet he had time for
each one of us. He was attending to each devotee. He was solving every problem.

At the very sight, a divine current ran between us and our two Venezuelan
room-mates. We blended so easily that we felt that we had known each other for
many lives before. We were thankful to the Lord for these two weeks of
togetherness, sharing and love.
The ways of the Lord continued to baffle me. The accommodation officer was only
a puppet in the hands of Baba. He was a puppet who was opening many avenues and
doors for me. My journey was limitless and beyond all frontiers. Had the
accommodation officer offered a room to Kamla and me alone, I would not come
across and befriend these beautiful souls.

Whatever the Lord gives us is to be received with love and piety. We should
never entertain negative thoughts about anybody or any incident which comes
across our path. His invisible hands are always and in all ways at play to
teach us how to curb our ego and how to become better human beings
At the Lotus Feet of SAI
Anita.
