We hear the discourses of Swami and we read many articles written by Swami. We
participate in Bhajans and Nagarasankeertans. We also participate in certain
service activities. In spite of all these many devotees feel, that there is no
perceptible improvement in their conduct with the outside world and people. Let
us examine this in the context of Swami's words. There is a dry wick. We pour
oil and try to lit the lamp. We are able to light it. Then there is a camphor.
When you bring a lighted match near it, it catches fire instantaneously. If
there is a wick that was soaked with water, How we can light it? We have to
dry the wick on the sunshine completly so that there is not even a trace of
water drop in it. Now we can use it in the lamp with oil. People are also of
three varieties. Those who are soaked in worldly activities and mundane life.
They are like the wet wick! Those who undertook sufficient spiritual
disciplines and with the result their inner realm is akin to a dry wick.
There is a third category of people who have undertaken many sadhanas in their
past births and they are like camphor. Swami's discourses are instantaneously
absorbed in their conscience and they follow it scrupulously. Hence each
spiritual aspirant is different and has evolved in different stages. Hence
Swami always point out, "Not all the buds bloom at the same time as soon as
the sun rises. Swami's grace is like the Sunshine. If we are matured enough,
we too blossom as soon as we recieve His guidance. Sairam, Saisaran.
