Job description: As an SQA engineer the candidate would be required to
work with minimal supervision on well-defined, specific tasks. (S)he would
be responsible for QA and testing on products like VCS or VCSOne or SFRAC on
UNIX. Most of these products, being used in data centers, the candidate
would be required to have a system administrator or DBA mindset to test
them. The candidate would be made responsible for specific modules of the
product where (s)he would be required to work on the module end to end
(right from test development, automation and test). (S)he would be required
to mentor junior members within the team. S(he) would be required to provide
test metrics and reports to senior members of the team on a regular basis.
As an Sr. SQA engineer the candidate would be required to work with

minor releases modules of the product where (s)he would be required to work
on the release end to end (right from test planning, test development,
automation and test). (S)he would be required to mentor junior members
within the team. S(he) would be required to be a go to person for various
technical aspects of the product. S(he) would be required to provide test
metrics and reports to senior members of the team on a regular basis for the
releases they are made responsible for. (S)he would be required to keep a
watch on all incoming escalations and ensure that these escalations get
converted into test cases. S(he) should have an ability to see
inefficiencies in the processes and should communicate these to the rest of
the team.
Technical Skills required: Administration Experience/Knowledge
- OS/Network Administration expertise on either one of the unices viz.
Solaris/AIX/HP and Linux (OS installation, Package administration, Kernel
Tuning, Kernel module administration, Server Network configuration, NFS,
NIS, DNS etc.).
- Good working expertise with Logical volume manager/Veritas Volume
Manager and File Systems, Clustering.
- Good Conceptual Knowledge/Working knowledge of Unix/Linux OS
internals, SAN/NAS, Disaster recovery and Server Clustering.
- Working exposure with virtualization solutions on Unix and Linux
(Solaris LDOMS/Zones, HP IVM/nPAR/vPAR, vmware, LPAR/Micropartion).
DBA Knowledge/Experience - Oracle/Sybase DBA, Oracle RAC Installation
and Configuration, Basic DB tuning, SQL Scripting/Automation. Good Oracle
RAC Conceptual Knowledge.
Automation Expertise - Shell Scripting, Perl Programming, Expect, TCL
etc...
QA Expertise - Good conceptual knowledge or working expertise with the
various phases of TDLC.
Experience required (Years): . 2 - 10 + Years of Experience
Education preferred: . Requires a Masters or Bachelors degree (or
equivalent) in Computer Science or Mathematics.

Ours is a 15 year old HR consulting firm based at Delhi. looking for
experienced database developers to develop and tune high volume,
financial services platforms, based on DB2. Responsibilities include
maintaining existing system, the design and development of SQL
functions, triggers, views, etc., database schema design and tuning of
a variety of mission-critical OLTP and batch oriented systems.
Candidates must be also able be able to deliver within established
timelines and must have strong organizational & communication skills.
Application level DBA work knowledge ie export/import, backup etc
Responsibilities
Collaborate with application architects, developers, product managers,
business analysts and technical management team to design, develop and
document databases, schemas, tables, functions, triggers, procedures
and other necessary aspects of the database.
Develop high performing SQL procedures for both OLTP and batch
operations. Must exhibit deep understanding and experience in
database and SQL tuning at both logical and system levels.
Develop high performing offline processes to bulk load data into
Database (Db2/Oracle) including use of SQL Loader.
Design and implement logical database architecture. Must exhibit
experience designing redundant and fault tolerant architectures for
high volume OLTP and batch systems.
Design and Develop monitoring tools to report and alert on significant
application and system level events.
Work within established standards for documentation and development.
Requirements
Must have hands-on SQL development experience
Experience tuning and optimizing within DB2/ Oracle 10G
Database performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
Relational data modeling skills. Experience designing and developing
new databases and schemas is required.
Strong knowledge of common DB2/Oracle tools, utilities and packages
Candidate must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to discuss business requirements and articulate complex
technical concepts in simple terms is an absolute necessity. In
addition, candidates must be able to provide documentation of their
development work that can be used by other members of the team.
Exposure to database administration on Oracle 10g or DB2 within
Solaris and/or AIX environments is a plus but not required.
