Sent by A Dear Sai Brother :

It was during the first International Youth Conference held in Prashanti
Nilayam,1997. Various countries and Indian states were coming with a theme song
to be presented. I just overheard this experience being narrated by one of my
classmate who was fortunate to be in the interview room that time.

"Swami called a group of youth from US & Europe.Swami asked them if they know
any Bhajans or devotional songs. The singer in the group started singing some
bhajan. Just then swami looked at a boy who was sitting behind, almost invisible
. But swami called him front and asked him to sing a song. The boy was so
surprised and said Swami I am not a good singer. Swami looked at him with the
compassion of a thousand mothers and said – "Sing the song that you always sing
in front of your altar every evening. (Later we came to know that this boy
would indeed sing his favourite song infront of the altar in Boston ,as he
didn't know any bhajans. "

With tears in his eyes and folded hands the young man sang to the Ever-knowing
Lord –

Swami was touched by the earnestness and sense of surrender the words had in
this song. And so was everyone.

At the end Swami said "Yes always have faith that God is the wind beneath your
wings. Then the wind will take care of you no matter wherever you are, however
high you fly."

After I heard this it made me feel that its really the feeling behind a song
that makes it so wonderful. With feelings even an ordinary song gets
transformed into a prayer.

Many years later when we were preparing a presentation for the Summer Course at
brindavan , this song was one of the key ingredients for that presentation.

It was beautiful and till now I strongly feel that the writer must have had
Swami in mind while penning down the lyrics. For He alone can be the Wind
beneath our wings……………..

"Wind Beneath My Wings"

Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always walked a step behind.

So I was the one with all the glory,
while you were the one with all the strength.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.

Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,
so high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings .

Om Sai Ram
