What you give to Faith, comes back manifold
Believe it! Everything you gift to the world of Faith, be it money, gold,
prayers, penance, dialogue, effort, pledges, promises, silver and whatever
else, if given with sincerity and right intent, will come back as unseen
benefit.
It will come back as a gift, sometimes not in the way you asked for,
sometimes as protection, but always! My mother says the reason is God, or the
universe, is a better accountant than all of us put together.
If you invest wisely with Him, the interest is guaranteed. “What you give
Him, will come back with interest…,” Ma has always said to me since the time I
was very young.
Those days I preferred playing with dolls and toys and ignored her. As I grew
older, I was skeptical. Then I had a daughter and one day when her nana died,
she questioned God, his ways, the very fabric of life. Without thought, I
repeated what mum had said to me, “Pray when you cannot control what happens
around you, we need to tap into a higher energy. We need to pray for wisdom and
courage, and the way will be shown. No prayer goes unanswered. The only thing
is that the answer may not be to our liking, may not be one that pleases us at
that moment.”
The answer to life understanding the concept of death and death being part of
life was not easily given to a child of nineteen at her grandfather’s funeral.
It is the big barn doors of life and death that open up the world of faith to
you.
So, as a child I had this image of God as a giant vending machine up in the
sky who had a beard and a shining halo. We had to deposit tokens like prayers
and then He delivered the goods. And when He did not, mothers made a pact with
Him. Then I saw God as outside of myself, dispersing favours on mankind.
We laugh at the platitudes our mothers mouth, how the truth of it comes back
to inhabit our bodies later!
I once heard that Sai Baba was asked by a westerner, “Are you God?” .
He answered, “Yes, I am and so are you.The only difference is that you do not
know it and I do.” He meant what I give out into the Universe, comes back to me
in the same measure. He insists we must believe in our divine nature, so we
treat ourselves with the same respect and reverence we treat God with.
A Sanskrit saying goes something like this: God sleeps in the minerals,
awakens in the plants, walks in the animals and thinks in you. Our thinking
capacity is enormous; what we think, beware, is what we can become! It is not
the things outside ourselves, events, circumstances, others' opinions that make
us unsettled or uneasy, but rather our allowing them to affect us. God's energy
is behind us, around us, within us, the more we tap into it, the more we strike
gold.
