All Spiritual Practice Must Be Directed To The Removal Of The Husk And The Revelation Of The Kernel
Here in a nutshell is Baba's basic teaching. Each life offers us the opportunity to remove the accumulation of innumerable layers built up in past lives that He often refers to as excess baggage. These layers that obscure the light of the God-self are similar to heavy lampshades that dim the light they cover. They are composed of the countless desires, both for what we do want, as well as for what we don't want. If either of these desires is in opposition to what the God-self knows that we need, they separate us from connection to our real Self. It is a matter of, "Thy will, not mine." "Thy will" referring to the inner source of wisdom that we all have available, though often buried within us out of sight. As Baba says, "Mind is not like a white paper that does not have any impressions on it. The tendencies and experiences that are derived in a number of births have been imprinted on it. The fruit of many actions performed by the body are also printed on the mind."
