I Will Give You What You Want Hoping You Will Ask What I Have Come To Give You


Many times in an interview, Baba will ask an individual what he or she wants.  
The answers are quite varied.  Many people ask for tangible boons, such as a 
good job, an attractive mate, children, a car or other possessions.  Some 
people ask for enlightenment and it is almost as if they reach out their hands 
hoping to receive it, as if it were a tangible gift.  But enlightenment has to 
be earned by hard work, by practicing Baba's teachings and by removing all of 
our desires, even the desire for enlightenment.  We have to remember that Baba, 
God, or our own God-self, knows exactly what we need for our spiritual 
development, so all we really need to do is to ask Him to give us what He knows 
we need.  In other words, surrender to His better judgment, trust Him to bring 
whatever is best for us, and accept whatever that may be, whether we like it or 
not!

As He advises, "Have no desires to place before God.  Whatever He does with 
you, however He treats you, is the gift that He likes best to give you."

Some people adopt a daily routine of thanking God for everything that happens, 
whether it appears from their limited view to be good, or bad, pleasant of 
unpleasant.  But again, that is a big step for most of us to take
