Work Is Worship
The Secret Of Happiness Is Not Doing What One Likes To Do,
But In Liking What One Has To Do

Many so-called spiritually inclined people tend to separate all the different
types of work into two distinct categories, spiritual and non-spiritual. But
Baba tells us that all kinds of work should be considered as worship and
executed with that thought clearly in mind. Only then can we pursue whatever
our job happens to be with an attitude of acceptance instead of the far more
prevalent one of resistance if it is not exactly what we think we would prefer.
Resistance produces tension which leads directly to a persistent feeling of
frustration. How then can we be happy?

On the other hand, we can use an entirely different approach by doing as Baba
suggests, by making our work a type of worship. By asking the God-self to act
through us, we shall be able to free ourselves from our former resistance and
tension, so that whatever our work is, it will become an adventure. We will
never be able to anticipate what surprises are in store for us. When the
God-force is in command, animating us like a puppeteer with Its puppets, we can
relax and watch the outcome.

Frequently, this change of attitude will allow the learning to take place that
the job made possible, and then we may be relieved of that work which provided
us with the opportunity to benefit from it in this way. Then, another door can
open up, perhaps leading to a different job to provide yet another learning
opportunity.
