Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation of A.P. Prepares Prasadam for Grama Seva Prasanthi Nilayam, October 3, 2011: During Grama Seva 2011, the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation of A.P. has the full responsibility of preparing the prasadam. About 3 lakh laddus and 3 lakh pulihora (tamarind rice) packets are required for distribution to the villages during these 9 days. About 30 tonnes of rice is estimated for preparation of the pulihora. 30 cooks from East Godavari District have been specially deployed for cooking the rice and mixture required for the pulihora and laddus. 160 sixty Mahila and and 327 Gent Sevadal are participating in the work of maintaining the stores, preparation of tamarind pulp, masala mix, quality control, rice cooling and mixing, firewood transport, sanitation, preparation of laddus and other miscellaneous work. The school children make the leaves ready for packing, female staff members of Prasanthi Nilayam and the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning participate in mixing of the tamarind rice, and the students of Anantapur Campus and Nursing College participate in packing pulihora by maintaining uniform weight in arranging the crates. For each of the 9 days, the work starts at 6pm and continues until the early hours of the morning. Cooking of rice, cooling, mixing, and packing work is done during the night and pulihora packets are made ready by early morning for distribution by students of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning to the villagers along with laddu prasadam, and sarees and dhothies to each household in the village in a planned and phased manner.
