Sai Ram Dear Ones
Is there a name to this American Devotee who lost his wallet in a shopping mall? The reason I ask is because it would add authenticity to this story. Unfortunately, this story portrays American citizens as callous (the officer laughing at the devotee) and heartless (the person keeping the wallet). Most of our police officers are hard working, and sincere individuals. They stop to help you when your car breaks down on the road. They tear up when a child is hurt in an accident. They risk their life to help and protect others every day they go to work, and off duty too. They give talks on their own time in classrooms around the country to educate our children about safety and other topics. There are always exceptions in every city in every part of the world, but I have yet to meet an uncaring officer of the law here in the United States. The truth of most Americans is that we are caring, loving individuals - I once lost my wallet in a department store and returned sometime later to find that somebody had turned it into the Customer Service Department, with everything, including cash and credit cards, intact. On another occasion, I left my checkbook in a Wal Mart store and returned hours later to find that somebody had turned it in to the Customer Service Department. One time I was driving alone and had a flat tire. A young man stopped and took my spare tire out of my trunk and changed my tire on the spot and would not accept any cash for his efforts. I see people helping other people all the time, without expecting anything for their efforts. Thank you for taking the time to read my response. He earned a meager amount and saved a part of it every month and bought a flight ticket to Prasanthi Nilayam . He kept it safely in his wallet. After a few days he went to a shopping mall and by the time he came out he realized he had lost his wallet. Someone had taken it from his pocket! He was crest fallen. All his dreams of seeing Swami had crashed miserably..He only thought about the intense yearning with which he saved and bought the ticket. But his faith was like a mountain.It was unshakeable..He put his worry on Swami and then went to the police station near his house, The officer incharge heard his narration..The devotee said that he lost his wallet and it was very important to get back the wallet and had come there to lodge a complaint. The officer laughed at him and said " In America if you lose a wallet u will never get it and it is a futile task to file a complaint for it.!. This devotee was determined..He persuaded him to take the complaint telling that he had the full faith he will get back his wallet..The officer was amazed and shocked at his will power and eagerness to get back after all a wallet. He budged and ultimately took the complaint.. The devotee requested the officer to inform him immediately as soon as he gets any wallet so that he can come over and check it if it was his. After a week he called up the officer and enquired. The officer laughed at his hope and told him he had not recieved any wallet..After two weeks the devotee called up and again he faced the same reply from the officer, But he did not give up he kept on praying After about four weeks, the Devotee got a call from the Officer, He rushed to the Police Station,The Officer was having a Wallet in his land, the Officer gave it to him and the Devotee was ecstatic, he had no words to express his thanks to Swami as he had prayed daily and ardently to Swami. The officer then asked him as to what was so important in the wallet that he was diligently, patiently and sincerely waiting for it to be found, The devotee told him that in that was a ticket to Puttaparthi and his yearning to see Bhagawan. The Officer then asked him as to who is the person you want to go all the way to India and see. The devotee said that " He is my Spiritual Guru". The Police Officer smiled and when the Devotee opened the Wallet to check the Flight Ticket to Prasanthi Nilayam, the Police Officer saw Swami's Photo and asked who the person was?, The devotee smiled and said ' He is Sathya Sai Baba whom i am going to see in Puttaparthi!' The officer amazingly then remarked..'Why do you need to go to Puttaparthi for that "! The devotee was perplexed and asked 'what do you mean to say sir?' The Officer then told the Stunned Devotee " This person Himself walked in a few minutes back and handed over the wallet to me and told to inform you and left just now " The devotee had only tears of gratitude flowing down his cheeks like a child he felt loved. That is Swami's Grace and Blessings.
