Sarvajanic Ekadasha Rudrabhishekam
On the 7th October, 2012 (Sunday) A Sarvajanic Ekadasha Rudrabhishekam will be
performed at Shantideep Dharmekshtra from 4 PM - 8 PM as overlapped by
Pradosham. [ Pradosham literally means the removal of sins ( Pra - Removal ,
Dosham - Sin). Pradosham is a specific window of time (between 4.00 p.m. to
6.00 p.m.) that occurs during the day. Praying during this time will free us
from sins and gives Moksha (hence the name Pradosha).
Rudrabhishekam is performed at pradosham (sunset) to worship Lord Shiva as He
performs the holy dance in Kailash. All devatas assemble there to watch this
holy event, and offer their prayers to him. According to the Vedas and ancient
scriptures, thinking & meditating during Pradosham (sunset) time is considered
the most sacred. The one who worships Lord Shiva at Pradosham will get the
benefits of having worshipped all the devatas at one time.
P.S : Please find attached herewith the excerpts from Shivapurana on Pradosham.
“Ekadasha Rudrabhishekam”
“Ekadasha Rudrabhishekam” is being organized to promote world peace, family
well-being & guard against adverse situations (ill fortunes, health problems,
financial troubles, marital discords, depression etc.), removal of evil forces,
negative energies etc. and also for uplift in all of our endeavors securing
inner purity and Divine protection & blessings. It is intended particularly for
the sake of washing away ones sins and afflictions bringing in Peace,
Prosperity & Family Happiness.
“Rudrabhishekam”is a very important form of worship of Lord Sai Shiva, the very
source of cosmic energy for the entire creation. His Divine form encompasses
and extends far beyond all known and unknown galaxies and universes. He is
omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. He is the conqueror of Death and an
embodiment of infinite mercy, compassion and love. We owe our existence to the
Divinity and have to pray and worship Him constantly with gratitude for the
welfare of all mankind.
Swami in His discourses said, “Rudram is the most sacred, powerful & richest
Vedic hymn & whoever at least listens to or views this ritual is also blessed
with peace and prosperity”. Ekadasha Rudram is one of the highest forms of
worships with the recitation of the Sri Rudra Prasna (First the eleven
Anuvakams of Namakkam, followed by the first Anuvakam of Chamakkam are chanted.
Next again the eleven Anuvakams of Namakkam with second Anuvakam of Chamakkam
are chanted. Like this for 11 full chantings of Namakkam one full chanting of
Chamakkam is completed). Lord Shiva is immensely pleased when He hears this
hymn.
In the Shiva Lingam, the entire universe is personified. If the Shiva Lingam is
cooled (pleased by devotion), then the universe is cooled (filled with peace
and love). Abhishekam is the ritual that cools the Shiva Lingamwhich is dearest
to His heart. That is why constant Abhishekam to Shiva Lingam while chanting
Rudram is as an expression of our devotion.
Very rarely a Sarvajanik Abhishekam of this significance, magnitude & frequency
can be witnessed and also a huge opportunity for the people to actually
participate in the worship.
Since this grand elaborate Vedic ceremony is for Loka Kalyana, the welfare of
all devotees, their families, all humanity and for Universal Peace &
Prosperity, all are requested to participate in this " unique Community Worship
" to derive the benefits of its performance. Please come forward to help
conduct this activity in a grand manner.
A humble offering at the divine lotus feet of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in
His mission by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Mumbai District

Study The Holy Qur’an and Hold Its Teachings…
Saturday, August 18th, 2012
Upon finding that the Muslims of Puttaparthi had to trek about four miles to
Bukkapatnam every time they had to pray in a mosque, since they did not have a
place of worship in their own village, in 1978, Bhagawan built a mosque in the
village to help the Muslims to worship in Puttaparthi itself. The mosque was
completed and consecrated in time for the Ramzan festival in August 1978.
Sanctifying the newly constructed Mosque, blessing the Muslims Bhagawan paid a
visit to the Mosque, on the Id Festival day, finally delivering a Divine
Discourse. A large assemblage of Indian and Foreign devotees and also villagers
of all faiths were present to share in the joy of the Muslims. Sri G.
Fakhruddin, the Convener of the village Mosque committee while paying welcome
homage said that the Light and Love that shone in and through the founders of
all religions were physically present in Sathya Sai Baba today. He expressed
eternal gratitude to Bhagawan for showing the Muslims the Pathway to God and
for re-enforcing their belief in the universal aspects of all religions.
Bhagawan then granted His discourse in Telugu which was understood by all the
Muslims present there.
Ramzan is the month when the Holy Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
It was a Divine communication, a Bhagavad Vani, reaching him through waves or
tarangas of Divine vibrations. The Vedas too were revealed in the same manner
by God to the Rishis. The Bible, the Avesta, and the other great scriptures of
other religions also had similar Divine inspiration as the reason for their
validity. Since the Qur’an originated from God, it cannot be changed or
modified, to suit ‘changed’ conditions. They are all eternal verities. The
Qur’an contains expositions of the five vital principles or pancha-prana of
human life: mercy, truth, sacrifice, love and tolerance. These principles,
really basic to the good life are emphasised in all religious texts of
humanity. If one assimilates the truths declared in the Qur’an, they can live
in full concord with all others. No religion praises violence or falsehood.
Fasting was laid down during the Ramzan, in order to make people experience the
benefits of sense control and in order to cleanse the spirit and the passions
of man, so that he may be rendered fit to approach God. Fasting is also
referred to as Upavas; Upa means ‘near’ and vas means `living’. So, Upavas
means, living very near God. The Ramzan fast is intended to enable Muslims to
set aside all sensory desires and to spend an entire month in the Holy Presence
of God. As man gets the cool heartening breeze when he approaches the air
conditioner, or fan, so too when man approaches God, his sorrows will vanish
and he will have his good aspects flourish by His Grace. Cultivate during this
Month of God all the Godly qualities, charity, unity, love, service,
detachment, tolerance. And, see that you practise them, not only at home, but,
spread the joy outside your household also.
Fasting entails not merely abstaining from food and drink from sun rise to sun
set, but, the mastery of the more difficult discipline of giving up violence,
falsehood, anger, envy, and the maligning of others. One may have to face
ridicule and persecution, obstructions and troubles when he decides to lead the
good, holy life. Prophet Muhammad was persecuted thus and he had to leave Mecca
for Medina. Jesus was crucified for the meek and the mute. As the Lord’s Will
assumes the form of a tree—the Kalpavriksha—in order to be a perennial source
of sustenance and sweetness to others, great persons have suffered voluntarily,
for the sake of their beneficent beliefs. In spite of hurdles and handicaps,
Prophet Muhammad did not give up his conviction; He declared that there was
only One God and that His Name was Allah. He commanded his disciples to serve
mankind, and treat all others as fellow beings, children of the same God. Study
the Gift of God to man, namely the Qur’an and hold its teachings as valid for
all time, because they are universal and basic.

Radha is an inseparable part of Krishna…
Sunday, August 19th, 2012
Fifteen days from Krishnashtami comes Radha Ashtami, a joyous celebration in
some part of North of India, celebrating the birth of Radharani, supreme
devotee of Lord Krishna. Radharani’s birthday is the sacred eighth day of the
month of Bhadrapada. Sri Radharani was born in Barsana, a suburb in Mathura.
Bhagawan had spoken many a time, about the inseparable relationship between
Krishna and Radha, The Creator and His Creation. Narrating the backdrop of
Radha’s affinity towards Krishna, Whom she recognized as Paramatma, Bhagawan
recounted a beautiful incident from the illustrious life of Sri Radharani. An
extract from Summer Showers in Brindavan 1978.
One day Radha intended to enter Brindavan to pick up some dried pieces of cow
dung. She was making some attempts to enter the city and Krishna recognised
that Radha was making such attempts. Since Nanda was the head of the place, a
watchman was guarding the entrances at the behest of Nanda. Krishna instructed
the watchman to state that only men are permitted to enter Brindavan and women
are strictly prohibited from coming in.
Thus, when Radha was trying to enter Brindavan on one day with her basket for
collecting dried pieces of cow dung, the watchman said that no woman can enter
Brindavan. Radha was utterly confused on hearing this. Smilingly, Radha asked,
“Can you stay in Brindavan? If you can enter Brindavan, I can also enter.” The
watchman replied, “I am a man, you are a woman.” Radha replied, “You are making
a big mistake. In this world, Krishna is the only Purusha. All others are
women. If you can enter, I can also enter.” In this manner, she argued with
great strength and questioned the watchman by asking, “How can you call
yourself a man, simply because you are wearing robes and dress appropriate to a
man?”
She forced her entry into Brindavan. Krishna, Who was coming behind, noticed
this and said that since Radha forced her entry contrary to the orders of
Krishna, and since she was a woman, she will have to pay a tax by way of
penalty for disobeying his orders. Radha replied, “Oh Lord! The heart you have
given me is my only property. I can return it to you by way of tax. I have
neither wealth nor possessions to pay tax in any other manner. I shall gladly
surrender my only belonging, namely my heart, to you.”
Krishna replied “Golden Radha, Brindavan has come into existence to immortalise
the kind of divine relationship that exists between me as Paramatma and you as
Prakruthi. Posterity will know that Krishna was always enshrined in the heart
of Radha. This commitment made by me will always convey the meaning of the
relationship that existed between Radha and Krishna.
Where there is Prakruthi, there will be Paramatma. Where there is Paramatma,
there will be creation. Paramatma and Prakruthi are like the object and the
image. Wherever we may go, the combination and the confluence of the two
aspects of Radha and Krishna will be what people can see in this world.”
Bhagawan discoursed further, elucidating on the Divine relationship:
To regard Radha of the Bhagavatha as an ordinary woman, to regard Krishna as an
ordinary human being, a man, and to regard the relationship between them as no
more than between a man and a woman, as people generally understand, is very
wrong and quite contrary to what the author of the sacred text of the
Bhagavatha intended to convey. This relationship is the sacred relationship
that exists between God and His creation. It is as inseparable as the white
colour of milk is inseparable from the milk itself. The colour of the milk is
white.
It is not possible for us to remove the white colour from milk. If we turn milk
into curds, the curd is also white. If we churn the curd and get buttermilk out
of it, the buttermilk is also white. If from that buttermilk, we separate the
butter, it is also white. Thus, do what you may, it is not possible to separate
the white colour of milk from the milk itself. Radha is part and parcel of
Krishna even as much as white colour is part and parcel of milk. The kind of
association between Radha and Krishna has no parallel in the world and cannot
occur in any other instance.
Today, only when we understand this and put into practice, at least to some
extent, the lessons we can draw from the relationship between Radha and
Krishna, will we be in a position to promote the aspects of Krishna, in their
divine form, throughout the world. On the contrary, we should not regard Radha
as one individual and Krishna as another individual and promote this thought
based on a difference between them. This oneness of Radha and Krishna has been
referred to in the bible as “Kingdom of God.” This aspect of oneness of
Prakruthi and Paramatma has been referred to, in several religions, by using
different words. However, to enable common people to understand the
significance of Radha, our ancients have created a form and a name. But
whoever, continually and at all times thinks of Krishna, is a Radha. This is an
aspect and not a name.
For this sacred and divine aspect of Radha, we have been ascribing several
distorted meanings. Radha is no other than a faithful image of Krishna, the
object. We should undertake such action as will lead us to Krishna. The Creator
is Krishna. The creation is the Prakruthi. Action is needed to be able to
cultivate divine love. As a result of the love of Krishna, we should be able to
reach Him. Today, we have understood the meaning and significance of the love
of Radha for Krishna. We should now be prepared to interpret all her actions
against the background of such divine love.
