Lucky Child

It was in the late 50s , Swami was sitting on the banks of Chitravathy river
with his devotees for usual sambashana and evening Satsang.

Suddenly He experienced terrible pain in his body and reclined for some time.
Then He got up and asked his devotees to follow Him. It was already dark that
late evening. He went straight to the small hospital, where the daughter of His
close devotee was admitted for the delivery of her second child. While Swami
was experiencing pain in His body, this lady was struggling with severe
labor-pain and the devotees realized that Baba was taking upon Himself her pain.

Then Swami materialized some vibhuti and gave her. Her pain stopped instantly.

Swami told her that He would not like the child to be born on that day, since
it was 'Ashtami' - a day considered not auspicious. He told her that child
would be born the next day, that was ‘Navami', an auspicious day.

According to Baba’s wishes, the child was born the next day. The mother did
not have any pain till the next day. Thus Baba deferred the birth of the Lucky
Child by a day !

This was narrated to me by the brother of that baby boy, after about 5 decades
since the incident took place.
