Prior to that, starting from 2005, he served as the Chairman of Cardiac Sciences at both the super specialty hospitals in Prasanthigram and Whitefield. Before that, Dr. Chowdary practiced Cardiothoracic surgery in the U.S for more than 25 years. He served as an Instructor in Surgery and Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Stony Brook University School of Medicine, New York, and the University of California, Los Angeles. He was Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center and Kaiser Foundation Hospital, both located in Los Angeles, California, USA.
